1. Secure your website
Before you can accept credit card payments, you need to make sure your website is secure. Access to an SSL certificate is needed in order to encrypt data that is sent to your web site. This will prevent thieves from intercepting credit card information in transit. See the SSL topic in the glossary for more information.
2. Enable a Payment Gateway OR the "Email Credit Card Number" feature
In order for you to receive payment, you will need to enable a payment gateway, OR enable the "Email Credit Card Number" feature. We highly recommend that you use a payment gateway, as it is the only truly secure method of accepting payments. While the credit card information is transposed in the email when using the "Email Credit Card Number" feature, it is still a risk, and should be avoided at all costs.
3. Enable Payment Method Record
Put the credit card's record in the Payment Method table in edit mode. Check the "Enabled" field, and click
. For a full explanation of the fields on a Payment Method record, see the Record Overview topic in this section.
