Squirrelcart v3.4.0

Candy is great and all, but when children come knocking on your door tonight, what they REALLY want is feature-rich ecommerce software. Passing out Snickers bars *might* keep your house from getting egged, but why risk it?

We have a monsterous amount of new stuff, now available in Squirrelcart v3.4.0. This version is so big, we almost couldn't fit it under the cape.

"Also Ordered" Products

Related Products

You can now assign related products to any product in your control panel. They can appear below the product, or in a nav block. The example above shows items related to a mobile phone.

Recently Viewed Products

There is a new nav block available which displays the products your customer has recently viewed. If they are browsing your site, this gives them an easy way to get back to a product they were looking at earlier.

New product display options

In prior versions, you had a choice of displaying your products as thumbnails, or via detail mode. We've added 3 new display options:

• thumbnails, with add to cart button - This puts an add to cart button below your thumbnail images
• table - This puts each product in a separate row, in a table format
• table, multiple add to cart - This is just like the table view, with the option for customers to add more than one item to the cart from a single page. This works with the optional Quick Total module as you would expect it to, with a grand total at the bottom of the page. See the image below for an example.

Purchased Items category for re-ordering

We've added a new Purchased Items automatic category. It automatically displays all the products that your customer has ever ordered. Customers can easily re-order products they've ordered in the past from this category. The default product display mode for this category is table, multiple add to cart - making it even easier for your customers to re-order frequently purchased items.

This category can appear as a regular category in your product catalog nav block. It also appears by default in your customer's Account Options nav block.

Improved email handling

• Support for sending emails using either: PHP mail() function, sendmail, or SMTP (with or without authentication)
• New account email - sent to merchant when a customer creates an account
• New account welcome email - sent to customer to thank them for creating an account

Better display of discount information

We've improved the way discounts are displayed for:

• Line items during checkout
• Order total based discounts during checkout
• Coupon codes and discount information is displayed for every amount/item that is discounted
• Admin order views include a link to the discount record that was used to apply the discount

Access Restrictions

You can now control when and if customers have access to your store, categories, and products. You can also control what happens when they do not have access.

This feature is great for sites that need to sell via wholesale, or for any other stores that require restrictions.

• Feature to require login in order to access the store
• Restrict access to categories and products via group membership
• For restricted products, you can either hide them, show them with no pricing, or show then with pricing but without access to purchase.

More features, if you can believe it.

• When using VAT (for merchants in the EU), prices are now shown inclusive of VAT
• Quick Total module - rewritten for better performance, and now uses Mootools (module sold separately)
• Download module - customers now see a section on the thank you page explaining how to download, with a link to get to the downloads page (module sold separately)
• Download module - we now have a setting which lets Squirrelcart decide when logins are required for ordering. If enabled, logins will be required only when a customer purchases a downloadable item. (module sold separately)
• New checkout settings
• Variable price product options, for accepting donations. This allows your customers to enter a price for an item.
